Though there are many drama courses out there, there are a limited number of NCDT accredited courses. They attract the best candidates, so are highly competitive. As a result, they are well respected within the industry.
If you’re determined to succeed, it makes sense to have as many advantages as possible. Vocational training on a course accredited by the National Council for Drama Training will stand you in good stead professionally, physically and mentally. Over 1,500 students enter NCDT accredited training each year. These courses will give you the opportunity to showcase to agents and casting directors - crucial if you’re to secure your first few jobs, and find a place in the profession. Graduates of NCDT accredited courses, if entitled to work in the UK, also receive full Equity membership.

The first year I applied I didn’t get into an accredited course, but I got a place at an unaccredited one. Obviously I really wanted to go to drama school so I thought a lot about it. I was worried that they wouldn’t be able to get agents along to the showcase at the end, and that was what made me decide to wait a year. Although it felt hard stalling like that, it worked out on two counts, cos the next year I did get into a three-year accredited course and it was also then much easier to get funding for it.
